Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Well, to start things off, Daddy had Monday off work, so he stayed home with Aubrey that day.  Papa Cave came down to spend the day with them as well and the 3 of them met me for lunch.  It stinks that I had to work when they had the day off, but someone's gotta do it (wink, wink)!  Aubrey was in good spirits that day and was feeling better.  She went to daycare on Tuesday and got sick twice, so I had to go pick her up a bit early.  I called Dr. Cohen and they said that there was a bug going around and that it shouldn't last more than a day or two.  She was feeling much better on Wednesday and was back to her "old" self again.  The rest of the workweek was spent with lots of cuddling!

Grandma and Grandpa Trost left for vacation on Saturday so Grandma had to work on Friday.  That meat that Aubrey went to daycare.  We were worried that she would go five days this week, but thanks to Daddy having Monday off for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, then she was only there for 4 days.

Saturday brought lots of fun for us.  Cousin Kenzie had her 2nd birthday party so we were able to see all of the Trost cousins.  They have so much fun playing together.  Happy 2nd birthday Kenzie!

Weekend in Columbus

We haven't been back to Grandma and Papa Cave's house for quite awhile, so we decided to head there on Friday after work for the weekend.  We all had a great relaxing weekend.  It's always nice to get away from the "big" city for a couple of days and go somewhere a bit less hectic where I won't be busy picking up the house every day.  Aubrey spent Friday with Grandma and Grandpa Trost and that said she got sick that day.  We didn't think too much of it because she was in good spirits when they dropped her off at the house.  On the way to Grandma and Papa's house, Aubrey got sick in the car.  We had to pull over, get her out of her icky clothes and wipe her down as best we could for the rest of the trip to the house.  I've never had to clean a car seat so well before!  We thought Saturday might bring a new day of no sickness, but Aubrey got sick 3 times that day and once was on our way back to Grandma and Papa's house after having dinner.  Yet another evening of cleaning out the car seat.  We were clueless as to what it could be, but decided to play it safe on Sunday and only give Aubrey Pedialyte all day long.

We had been in the process of transitioning her to soy formula and realized that it could have been the soy formula that was irritating her poor tummy.  We also had been giving her a multi-vitamin because her iron count was low at her 9 month check-up.  We decided to stop the multi-vitamin and put her back on the Alimentum formula to see if that was the issue.  We will see what next week brings!

10 Month Update

Wow...yet another month has passed by.  Aubrey is now 10 months old and is such a lovable, curious, happy, independent baby.  We couldn't be more proud to be her parents and love her more and more each day.

Some new developments/loves this month:
  • Loves giving kisses.  Aubrey absolutely loves giving kisses and gets so excited giving them.
  • Walking slowly with a walker.  She has to have a little help pushing the walker, but she walks behind it if someone else pushes it.  She also likes pushing her rocking chair.
  • Crawling all over the place...and I mean all over the place.
  • Talking.  Aubrey loves saying dada and mama, along with other "words".
  • Being lightly tickled.  Every morning when I get her out of bed Aubrey will lay on her changing table and I will lightly tickle her tummy.  She lays as still as can be and sucks in her tummy...she loves it!
  • Taking the books off the bookshelves.  This is a new game to her.
  • Reading books.  She has always enjoyed reading books with us, but now she will hold the books and flip the pages as if she is reading them herself.

Table Food and Last of the Christmas Parties

Our first full week of work and full week (just the four days) of daycare after the Holidays and the great weekend have come to an end. It did feel good to get back into our normal routine and I think Aubrey was missing it as well. Daddy said she had a big smile on her face when he dropped her off this week. I think she missed her friends! A quick note that Aubrey and I are finally feeling better, so hopefully we can keep the next cold at bay for awhile.

We started Aubrey on table food this week and boy is she loving it. She is a pretty independent girl as it is (loves doing everything herself and gets upset when we try helping her when she doesn't want the help), so she thinks she is pretty cool eating her own food. She has also started not liking wearing her bibs. She takes them off during meal time so we have to "fight" her to keep them on. I don't know if we should give in and let her go without one or not. We did once this weekend (just let her eat in her diaper) and it seemed like the best bet. We will see how this next week goes.

I had a work volleyball tournament on Saturday, so Daddy and Aubrey spent the day together. The tournament was fun and we ended up getting 2nd place, but I was pretty anxious to get home to see my two favorite people! We made last minute plans with a couple friends of ours and met up with the Dau's for dinner. It was Aubrey's first date! :) It was so cute seeing Aubrey and Easton sitting in their high chairs side-by-side and talking to each other. Many of our friends have babies the same age as Aubrey so it makes it so much fun getting together.

Sunday we woke up, headed to church, then went to Fremont for our last Christmas get-together. The extended Cave family Christmas! Great Grandma and Grandpa Cave love seeing all of their kids, grandkids and great grandkids so it was so nice for us all to meet up. It was just for a couple hours, but it was the perfect amount of time to see everyone.

Life should be settling down a bit now that all of our Christmas celebrations are over, but we shall see. It will be nice to get back to our routine, but now I have to make sure we have a good, healthy meal every night since Aubrey is now eating table food with her baby food. It will be good for all of us, but it will take some adjusting of cooking every night. Hopefully it won't take too much time away from Mommy/Aubrey play time!

Overnight at Grandma and Grandpa Trost's

The work week finally came to an end and we were able to enjoy a great weekend. It is unbelievable how these short weeks take so long to end. I am still battling a nasty cold and even had to go to the doctor on Thursday to get some medicine since I completely lost my voice. Hopefully I start feeling better, but it is going around my office like crazy. Dr. Cohen said I probably caught it from Aubrey and since she already had that version of the cold, then she couldn't catch it back from me which I was most concerned about. She has started feeling a bit better, so that has made it a better week for both Daddy and I.

Daddy and I had his Gavilon Christmas party Saturday night, so Aubrey spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa Trost's house. I was still not feeling 100%, so we had to cut the night a little short and were home by 11:00. We got up early the next day and decided to head to church...just the two of us. We are so used to having Aubrey with us that it was quite different sitting and listening to the whole service. We usually cannot concentrate and listen as much as we were able to this morning! It was quite nice! :) After church, we grabbed some lunch to bring to Yutan and headed out to pick up Aubrey. Aubrey has turned into quite a good sleeper, so we (I) am not as nervous having others watch her. Grandma and Grandpa said she did great and that they enjoyed spending the evening with her. I don't think they would ever tell us otherwise! The rest of the day brought relaxation and playing at home. Aubrey loves playing with all of her toys that she got for Christmas. Our basement has the perfect set-up for her because she can just crawl around and not worry about anything. I sure am happy that we decided against filling it with furniture and other things. The open space is perfect for her to play.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! My, what a year it has been. I cannot believe that just a short year ago, it was just the two of us with a baby in my belly. This past year has gone by so fast. I cannot believe that our little baby is already 9 1/2 months old and crawling all over the place, talking, laughing, giving kisses, and loving up her mommy and daddy. We are truly the most blessed parents to have such a loving and beautiful little girl. Daddy and I were talking the other day about how our lives have changed so much in the past year, but that we wouldn't have it any other way. We cannot remember how life was before Aubrey....what did we do with all of our "free" time? I can tell you, our house was probably a bit picked up more each day! :)

We had plans to have people over for a few hours on New Year's Eve so that we could have the kiddos play together and us adults could have some time to chat and catch up with each other. Well the day came and two of our couple friends were not feeling well and then to top it off, I started feeling really achy as well. We decided to cancel our NYE celebration so that we could all rest up and get over the sicknesses that were going around. We invited Grandma and Papa Cave down to our house to hang out with us since we had all the food and drinks ready to go. It was so much fun having them there! Aubrey stayed up until 9:00 (quite an achievement for her)! After she went to bed, we played cards for a bit, then I had to head to bed as well because I started not feeling well. I didn't make it to midnight, but it was close....11:30. Daddy did come up and give me a kiss at midnight, but then it was lights out for mommy. Grandma and Papa stayed for a bit today, long enough for me to get a little nap in and for them to play awhile with Aubrey. I have a feeling I might be coming down with what Aubrey had, but we shall see. Tomorrow starts another 3 day work week and a 2 day daycare week for Aubrey. She is starting to feel better, but the darn cold is still hanging on.
