Cave Thanksgiving and Time in Columbus

This has been kind of a crazy week since we only had a 3 day workweek so we completely took advantage of having four days of being around Aubrey.  We had Thanksgiving in Columbus on Saturday, but decided to head back a little earlier to spend a couple days with Grandma and Papa Cave.  Aubrey was a little out of sorts not sleeping in her bed, but she started getting used to sleeping in the pack and play and warmed up to being somewhere new soon enough.  It was a great weekend of relaxation and family time.  Uncle Joe and Aunt Kellie brought their little doggie, Cammie, back as well.  Aubrey did not like it one bit, but she kind of got used to having a puppy around even though she was scared of her.  Maybe it would be a good thing to have one around more often?  Not sure Daddy likes that idea though.

Did I mention that I ventured out on Thanksgiving night/Black Friday to hit up all the Black Friday deals?  I was only out shopping for 4 1/2 hours, but boy was it worth it.  I love going every year and end up getting many Christmas presents, so I'm sure the tradition will continue next year.

It's sad that the Thanksgiving holiday is over and we have to go back to work tomorrow and start our 5 day workweek routine, but I am so excited for Christmas this year.  I love the holiday every year, but it will be even more special this year with Aubrey.  Let the Christmas shopping begin!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!  We had such a relaxing day today and were able to spend some time together..just the three of us.  Daddy put up the Christmas lights since it was a whopping 65 degrees outside.  Seriously....who would have thought the weather would be so nice at the end of November?  We went to Yutan and spent a little time with Great Uncle Mike and Great Aunt Deb and their families.  My cousin's baby, Cash, sure loved Aubrey!  Great Grandma Heldt was at their house too so it was great to see her again.  We made time to stop by Grandma and Grandpa Trost's on our way home to wish them a Happy Thanksgiving.  Aubrey was wiped out by the end of the day and fell asleep before we got to the edge of town on our way home.

8 Month Update

Our sweet, little 2 1/2 week early baby is officially 8 months old today.  Each month brings newer and exciting things for Aubrey.  It is amazing seeing her develop each month and it seems that she is learning something new each and every day.

New developments for Aubrey this month:
  • Crawling. Only a couple of movements then sits on her bottom, but she is starting to.  It won't be long til we are chasing her around.
  • Saying "dada".  Hopefully "mama" will be coming along soon.
  • Sitting up in bed on her own. It is so cute seeing her sitting there in the mornings waiting for us to get her out of bed.  She is getting so big!
  • Holding her own bottle.  Well, only once in a while when she really wants to.  Who wants to do things for themselves when someone else (aka Mommy or Daddy) will do it for you?
  • Shrieking in response to other shrieks.  Absolutely hilarious!  She must love the sound of her voice because she is shrieking and talking like crazy.
  • Likes pretty much all fruits and veggies.  We will be starting meat soon, so hopefully she continues the good eating habits.  Aubrey still does not like her green veggies, but will eat them when mixed with other things.  Let the combo foods begin!
  • Sitting up in the bathtub and playing with toys.  Aubrey has always loved taking baths but now they are even more fun since she can sit there on her own playing with her water toys.
  • Tooth - Aubrey's first tooth came in this month!  She is no longer a toothless baby.

Trost Thanksgiving and "Dada"

Mommy had a night out with friends on Friday night so Daddy had a night alone with Aubrey for the first time for more than a couple of hours.  He said they had a great time playing and getting to know each other.  Daddy doesn't get much time with Aubrey during the week since he doesn't get home til 6:00 or 6:30 and Aubrey goes to bed between 6:30 and 7:00.  Weekends are his time to catch up with Aubrey and see some of her new tricks.  With mommy being gone for a little bit, Daddy and Aubrey had some real quality time.  :)

We relaxed on Saturday and met up with some friends at Tanners to watch the Husker game.  I had my first encounter of a restaurant/bar and grill not having a baby changing station in the bathroom.  I thought all places had one!  Needless to say, Aubrey and I had to venture outside and do a diaper change in the car.  It wasn't the best situation, but we made do.

Sunday morning came quickly and we ventured out to Yutan to spend the day with Grandma and Grandpa Trost and the rest of the Trost clan.  We celebrated Thanksgiving and even managed to take advantage of the great weather and had some family photos taken.

Aubrey is officially crawling and talking!  We will have to baby proof the house soon because she is starting to get more curious about what is around her.  She will only crawl when we are not looking.  I'm sure she thinks it is pointless for her to do the work when she can make a noise and we come to her and pick her up.  Who wouldn't rather let someone else do the work for them?  We did catch her crawling to a toy and crawling towards us when we were not looking.

Daddy is so proud....for many reasons; however, this time he is especially proud of the fact that Aubrey's first word is "dada".  She does not associate Daddy with "dada"; however, she loves saying it.  I am a bit jealous, but I'm just happy that she has started saying a word and not just her shrieks and screams.  Oh yes, we still have many of those but "dada" here and there mixes things up a bit.  I wonder what her next word will be.  I better start working with her on her "m's"!

Sitting Up

Daddy went golfing with some of Mommy's family on Friday and hung out with them that night so Aubrey and I spent the night cuddling and playing.  What a nice night to relax and spend some quality time together.  She must have known Daddy was gone because I didn't hear one peep out of her until about 6am.  We had some friends over for the Husker game on Saturday.  It was so fun seeing Aubrey playing with Cole and Camden.  She is going to have quite a few "male" friends growing up since quite a few of our friends who had babies around the same time as us had boys.  We always joke about which one will be Aubrey's first boyfriend.  It already makes Daddy nervous!  :)

We heard a loud scream coming from Aubrey's room one night this week so Daddy ran in and found Aubrey sitting up in bed all wide-eyed.  She had never sat up in bed before and we realized that she scared herself when she did it.  She had no idea how to lay back down so we had to go in and just lay her down with her paci and she would go right back to sleep.  Needless to say this happened a couple times throughout the night for a couple nights.  Hopefully she learns how to lay back down herself soon!

Fall Craft Show

Well, Aubrey's second week at daycare went much better than her first. Monday was a little rough, but by the time Thursday came around, Aubrey truly seemed to be enjoying herself. She has been eating a little better, taking her naps and even smiling when Daddy drops her off. She is making new friends and seems to really like her teachers. Thank goodness she adjusted to the new daycare when she did. I don't know how much more heartbreak I could have taken knowing she was sad and scared being there.

Grandma and Papa Cave came back to visit on Thursday night because Grandma, Aunt Kellie and I decided to go to a craft show on Friday. Aubrey even came with us and was an absolute perfect angel. Grandma brought Aubrey to my work prior to us heading to the craft show so all of my co-workers could see how much she has grown. None of them have seen her since she was about 2 months old, except for pictures, so it was great to show her off. :)
We had a great time at the craft show and Mommy managed not to buy too many cute little girl things. The four of us even went to dinner afterwards. Aubrey felt like a big girl sitting at the table at Upstream eating with us. :) It was quite the day though and she fell fast asleep on the way home.

The rest of the weekend was pretty relaxing. The three of us were able to just relax and spend some quality time together. We did make a quick trip out to Yutan to see Grandma and Grandpa Trost on Sunday to say hi. Other than that, it was a weekend of playing and relaxation. The time change this morning brought on an early morning for Aubrey (4:30) so it was good that we didn't have anything planned so she could nap when needed/wanted.
