Fine Dining and Tummy Sleeping

We survived the few days Daddy was gone! Actually, Aubrey was a perfect angel...sleeping through the night, taking naps and being the happiest girl ever.  Daddy even surprised us by coming back early just so he could be home on our anniversary.  He is such a sweetheart! August 22nd marked Daddy and my 3rd anniversary.  We were a little bit nervous about going out to eat to celebrate, but we didn't want to break our tradition of going to Charleston's.  So, I made a call to Charleston's asking if it was okay to bring a baby, they said "sure", and off we went. Aubrey did so well!  She even ate a little bit of cereal while we were there.  I think she felt like a big girl eating dinner at the table with mom and dad.  Hopefully we didn't set Aubrey's expectations of going out to dinner too high! But, as daddy says, she better expect her dates to be bringing her places like that and never settle for anything less.  Sure, dad. :)

We hosted a BBQ at our place Saturday night with some of mommy's friends.  Tim, Lindsay and Cale came from Sergeant Bluff, IA and stayed the night. Erica, Jeff, Ethan and Lily came over and Kate, Marc and Charlie stopped by as well. It was our first time meeting Charlie and what a precious baby he is!! Lily and Aubrey played together and it was so much fun seeing them interact. It makes me even more excited for the future and wondering how close of friends they will be since they are only 5 weeks apart. It was so fun to have all the girls back together again since it had been awhile since the last time. I hope we can get together again soon!

Grandma Cave and Great Grandma Kuta surprised us on Sunday and stopped by for a bit. We love surprise visitors!!! It truly made our day to see them even if it was just for a short time.

Oh, and Aubrey is officially a tummy sleeper. She used to sleep on her side, but now she really likes to roll over to her tummy as soon as she goes in her crib and sleeps that way most of the night. She is like her mommy! I know they say tummy sleeping is bad for babies, but she is most comfortable that way so I don't want to make her move. They used to say that was the best way to sleep, so hopefully I am not causing harm to our baby!

Reaching Out

Has another week already come to an end?  When you have so many plans, it makes the weekend go by so fast and you look back wondering where it went to.  The Larmore's had us over for a BBQ Friday night with some other fantasy football players.  Jason's friend, Dave, was in town for the draft, so the Larmore's hosted everyone at their place.  It is hard to believe that just 9 months earlier, there were 6 fewer babies amongst the fantasy football guys.  How life has changed for everyone!

Daddy and I both had plans on Saturday evening.  A good college friend invited me to run with her "team" at the Glo Run, which was a 5k in the downtown area at 8:40 at night.  We truly lucked out that it was such perfect weather.  Daddy had his fantasy football draft that same night.  Aubrey, I'm warning you now, there will be LOTS of football watching in our house over the next few months, so be prepared.  I told daddy that he needs to step up his game and bring home first place in both of his drafts and make you proud!  :)  Thank goodness Grandma and Grandpa Trost were able to watch Aubrey.  They went to a wedding that evening, but Aubrey tagged along with them.  It's kind of funny that Aubrey has been to more weddings than us this year!!

Daddy left for a work trip Sunday morning, so it was just Aubrey and I hanging out.  He is going to be gone for a few days.  I think he is nervous about leaving his girls to fend for themselves, but we will be just fine.  If we have any troubles, we know family that is just a phone call away!

Did I mention that Aubrey completely surprised us this week?  Daddy was holding her and as I walked by, she actually reached out for me.  I thought it was just a coincidence, but she did it 3 times during the week.  This must have been something new she learned at day-care.  Being with older infants does have it's benefits!  :)

One last tidbit of information....since Aubrey has already had 3 ear infections, we decided to start taking her to see a chiropractor.  I was VERY nervous at first and talked it through with Uncle Nick to know what to expect.  Daddy and I decided to try it since the medication did not seem to be helping and Aubrey is getting one ear infection after another.  We go see Dr. Nielsen who is Uncle Nick's good friend, so we know they trust him very much and we know he is great with babies.  Cross your fingers that this helps our precious baby!  We do not want to get tubes and we are hoping this will work.  Aubrey seems to do pretty well with it!

5 Month Update

Is our little baby already 5 months old?  If this time has already gone by this fast, she will truly be starting kindergarten before we know it!  Some of Aubrey's new "loves" are:
  • Standing up while being supported.  Aubrey has such strong legs, so we will see how soon she wants to walk.
  • Giggling and smiling anytime you talk to her.
  • Attention.  She thinks it is a game to fuss until I look at her, then she gives me a heart melting smile and starts kicking her legs like crazy.
  • Speaking of which....kicking like crazy.  We still sit her in her bouncer and she loves kicking, kicking and kicking.  It makes me tired just watching her.
  • Grabbing her toes.  She looks so cute holding onto her toes and rolling side to side while talking.  She is quite talented!
  • Sleeping with her legs and/or arms hanging over the side of the bed.  I move her every time I see her this way, but the next time I go to check on her, she is sleeping the same way.  She is such a silly baby!

Weekend in Columbus

We had a weekend of no plans, so we decided to take advantage and head back to Columbus to spend the weekend with Grandma and Papa Cave.  It was a great weekend of fun and relaxation.  I do always wonder, how can a 12 pound baby require so many things to accompany her on a trip?  Seriously....Daddy and I always just have one bag each for a weekend trip, but after Aubrey entered the world, we now pack the car to it's max for a weekend trip.  I guess we always just want to be prepared for anything!

Grandma and Papa Cave had an additional house guest while we were there which made us even more excited to be back.  Cousin Izzy was spending the week with them so she and Aubrey were able to see each other and spend some time getting to know each other a bit more.

Aubrey had her first experience of going to the Columbus horse races and seemed to really enjoy it!  It was a great weekend seeing Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Kuta, Great Uncle Pat and Great Uncle Bob.  We headed up to the race track again on Saturday evening and saw that Great Uncle Greg had some horses running at the races, so he surprised us by being in Columbus as well.  He hadn't seen Aubrey since she was a day old and she sure has changed since then!  And to top things off, Uncle Dan, Aunt Kristi and Caleb, Colton and Kenzi decided to make the trip to Columbus as well to see the horse races.  It was so much fun being together in such a fun atmosphere.

We were able to stop in Fremont to see Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Cave on our way back home on Sunday.  We hadn't seen them since Father's Day.  It was great to see them and catch up on things.

Oh, Aubrey tried cereal for the frist time this week.  Let's just say she didn't really like it.  Hopefully that changes soon so that she can start eating solids!

Mommy and Aubrey Day

Mommy decided to take a day of vacation from work today since it has been almost 2 months of not having a day off.  I was going through Mommy/Aubrey-time withdrawals so it was much needed and boy what a day we had!  We just spent the day at the house, but when Daddy had to get up for work, he put Aubrey in bed with Mommy to cuddle and she slept until 9:00am.  I have never been a big cuddler, but how can you not when you have such a precious little baby next to you?  :)  It was so much fun to spend the day with Aubrey.  She was so relaxed that she even took a 4.5 hour nap.  I texted Daddy to see if I should wake her up, but our thoughts were that if she was sleeping so heavily, then she must have needed it.  We were worried that she wouldn't sleep at night, but she sure did!

Busy and Tiring Weekend

Happy Birthday to Grandpa Trost!  We were able to head out to Yutan to help Grandpa celebrate his special day and it was great to see some of the cousins.

This weekend was another busy one.  Daddy and I decided to head out to Yutan for the Sandfly Festival which is a country concert that Mommy's cousins put together.  It is held out in a large pasture so it is almost like a mini-Country Stampede.  This year Josh Thompson was the main singer.  It was lots of fun!  Aubrey hung out with Grandma and Grandpa Trost and cousins Caleb, Colton and Kenzie while we and Uncle Dan, Aunt Kristi and a couple of their friends went out to show our support.  Uncle Bryan and Aunt Amanda were there as well so it was great to catch up with them!

We ended up spending the night at Grandpa and Grandma's Friday night, expecting to get up early and head back to Omaha the next day.  Well, Aubrey decided to sleep in a bit and woke up at 8:00.  That is late for her!  We packed up and headed back home so that Mommy's friend, Amy, could come over with her family.  Aubrey met Olivia and Atlie for the first time and boy did they have fun holding her!  I was so excited to see Amy, Curtis and the fam because it's been a long time since we've been able to see each other.  It worked out so well that they were in town (Mahoney) for the week and could come see us.  That's a long drive from Hebron!

After meeting up with Weidel's, we had to head out to the Herzog's house for Erin's 30th birthday.  It is so much fun seeing all of the babies.  It is going to be really crazy when they all get old enough to walk and chase each other around.  Four of daddy's friends have had babies in the past 9 months so they are all really close to Aubrey's age.  It will certainly be amusing to see them grow up with each other!

The two busy days must have wore Aubrey out because I had to wake her up at 9:00 Sunday morning for church.  She woke up once to eat, otherwise she slept for 12 hours!  What a tired little girl!  As mentioned, we headed back out to Yutan this evening so we could see Grandpa on his birthday and could get together for a little BBQ.  Aubrey will find out that Grandpa loves his grill.  He will try to find any excuse possible to use it!  :)
