Leaving Aubrey With Complete Strangers?

Aubrey and I went and visited daycare today so I could take some supplies to them prior to Aubrey starting.  It seems like a nice place and all of the teachers are super nice and loving, but I don't think any place will be perfect enough for our precious daughter.  I just hope it is a good fit! Needless to say, I cried the minute we got back into the car thinking about having to go back to work and leave our baby with complete strangers.  As someone once told me, isn't it crazy that you tell your kids never to talk to strangers, but then you leave your child in the care of a stranger at daycare?  Yes, I trust the teachers and helpers and know they will do a great job, but it is still a very weird concept.

Going back to the crying, I kept telling myself to toughen up, most moms go through this; however, it didn't help.  As soon as we got home, I scooped Aubrey out of her carseat and could not put her down for hours.  Going back to work is definitely going to be harder than I thought.  I am going to miss all of the daily Aubrey and Mommy bonding time!  I think I took those first few weeks for granted, but I know the next couple of weeks will be spent never putting Aubrey down (unless we have to run errands...haha).

Baptism

We made another trip to mommy's work today so that I could pack up my desk. No, I am not leaving Mutual of Omaha, but my team is moving floors from the 11th to the 4th so I had to make sure all my things were packed up so no one else would have to do it for me.  We were able to go to lunch with some of my work friends while there so it was so nice to catch up with them. It's crazy how out of touch with the "Mutual" world I have become being away for 2 months. I can't believe I only have a few more weeks until I'm going back to work full-time.  Wowzers time has gone by fast!

But....most importantly.....today marked a very special day in Aubrey's life.  She was baptized at Rejoice! Lutheran Church in Omaha.  We are so happy that all of our family could join us to celebrate this special day.

2 Month Update

What a change a month can make.  After switching to formula, Aubrey has become such a happy baby and has grown so much.

Aubrey had her 2-month wellness check this week.  Her stats are:

Weight: 10 lbs, 4 oz (37th percentile)
Height: 21 1/4 (16th percentile)
Head Circumference: 38 (32nd percentile)

Some of Aubrey's new developments this month:
  • Smiling when awake.  Aubrey has started smiling quite often when being held or talked to.
  • Musical gym/playmat.  She enjoys watching the safari animals and lights.
  • Making noises.  Aubrey has officially started cooing.
  • Inspecting her hands.  She has discovered her hands and is in complete awe of them.
  • Lifting her Head.  Even though Aubrey completely dislikes tummy time, she does a pretty good job at keeping her head even with her body at 2 months old.

Mother's Day

What a week!  We ran lots of errands this week and even met up with one of my co-workers who is also out on maternity leave.  Her little boy (Benito) is just 9 days younger than Aubrey, so we had to get together and have our babies meet!  We also met up with Erica for lunch again.  I learned the hard way that I should not give Aubrey a bottle right before a car ride.  That's right....she spit up the whole bottle on the ride to the restaurant.  Shame on Mommy for not knowing better!  Motherhood is definitely a learning opportunity.

It was a busy weekend as well. We went over to Uncle Dan and Aunt Kristi's so the kids could see Aubrey Friday night.  It is just amazing seeing cousin Colton interact with Aubrey.  He sure does love his little cousin!  Then Saturday came and we headed to Columbus for Daddy’s cousin's graduation party.  A huge congratulations to Trenton!!  We decided to spend the night at Grandma and Grandpa Cave's house so we could see Grandma Cave on Mother's Day.

What a special 1st Mother's Day it was!  Daddy and Aubrey gave me the most beautiful flowers.....oh so pretty!  We also went to Yutan to see Grandma Trost a bit later on Mother's Day.  So it truly was a busy weekend!  It sure wore Aubrey out because she slept for 7 hours straight Sunday night! Yay Aubrey!

Happy and Peaceful Baby

Well, a few weeks after being on a non-dairy diet, there is no change in Aubrey so the next change was to formula.  My oh my what a change that made in just 24 hours!  Aubrey was such an alert and happier baby!  I am so happy to know that she is now feeling better and is not having an upset tummy anymore....no more arching the back, no more spitting up, no more crying for most of the day, no more restless sleep.  So happy that we finally got it figured out, but it stinks a bit that I only have 5 weeks left to spend time with my happy and peaceful baby!

We attended JoJo's Benefit Saturday and boy did they have a great turnout! Daddy was able to bid on and "win" a signed Nebraska football and tickets to the Funny Bone at the silent auction, which he was pretty excited about!  JoJo looked amazing and it was so nice to have her finally meet Aubrey.
